The Present Era

Our present cosmic address: approximately 13.8 billion years after the Big Bang. The microwave background has cooled to 2.725 K. Galaxies, stars and planetary systems inhabit the cosmic web; local luminous objects are much hotter than this background.

About this cosmic model

A conceptual, non-linear chronology. Background temperature and a mean-matter density proxy share an idealized relative scale factor:

The subscript 0 refers to today at reference expansion, with T₀ = 2.725 K. Current a / a₀: 1. Radiation energy density instead scales as a⁻⁴; dark energy is not included in this matter proxy.

Dark matter supplies the conceptual gravitational scaffolding. Spectra and structure sizes are illustrative; bound systems do not expand with the background. Entropy includes gravitational evolution and is qualitative. Expansion alone does not increase comoving photon entropy.

Recombination and cosmic dawn use broad visual envelopes: plasma thins, residual light redshifts away and stellar emission rises gradually. The warped axis is not a measured ionization history. Individual planetary systems are below the chamber’s resolution.

Future temperatures are display anchors, not a Friedmann-equation forecast. Heat death has no fixed date; persistent positive vacuum energy implies a nonzero horizon temperature.
