# Terms of Service

## 1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using TorahTone (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
## 2. Description of Service
TorahTone provides daily Jewish wisdom and audio, ambient soundscapes, local Shabbat candle-lighting calculations and reminders, notifications, and optional Premium features. Sunset calculations use approximate location on the device; TorahTone is not a substitute for a local halachic calendar or rabbinical authority.
## 3. Paid Services, Billing & Subscriptions
TorahTone offers these reference plans in US dollars, subject to availability and eligibility in Google Play:
- **Weekly:** US $0.99 per week; **no free trial**.
- **Monthly:** a **3-day free trial** for eligible users, then US $1.99 per month.
- **Annual:** a **7-day free trial** for eligible users, then US $19.99 per year.
The localized price, taxes, billing period, trial eligibility, and renewal terms displayed by Google Play at checkout govern. **Google Play manages trial eligibility** and returns the offer available to the purchasing account; CIBRU cannot grant or extend a trial manually. Trials are offered only when Google Play returns an eligible offer; otherwise checkout shows the paid plan. Unavailable or preview plans do not charge you or unlock Premium.
- **Billing Platform:** All subscription transactions, payments, and renewals are handled securely through **Google Play Store Billing** in accordance with Google Play's terms.
- **Auto-Renewal:** Weekly, monthly, and annual subscriptions automatically renew at the end of the applicable billing period at the price shown by Google Play unless you cancel through Google Play before the renewal date. Uninstalling TorahTone or clearing app data does not cancel renewal.
- **Trial conversion:** an eligible trial converts automatically to the selected paid plan unless canceled before the trial ends. We recommend canceling at least **24 hours before your trial ends** to allow time to finish the steps. This recommendation is not a mandatory Google Play deadline; Google requires cancellation before trial expiry. See Subscriptions & Refunds for authorization holds and instructions.
- **Subscription Management:** You can manage, modify, or cancel your subscription at any time directly in your Android device settings under **Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions**.
- **Price Changes:** Any price modifications will be communicated in advance via Google Play in accordance with Google Play Billing policies.
- **Verification:** a purchase token, app/product identifiers, request ID, and fresh request-bound Google Play Integrity token go to the Supabase purchase service. The service verifies with the Google Play Developer API and acknowledges eligible purchases. A pending purchase does not unlock Premium; a verification outage does not create a new entitlement.
- **Offline access:** authenticated local verification caches use server time and monotonic elapsed time, with a maximum of 72 hours for paid access and 24 hours for referral VIP, bounded by the entitlement’s earlier expiry. A reboot, invalid cache, or disabled/paused sync requires online verification before access can resume.
**Notice:** Canceling normally stops future renewal while access continues through the paid period shown by Google Play. Refunds, revocations, payment holds, or immediate-cancellation options may end access sooner. Cancellation and a refund request are separate actions.
## 4. Free Tier & Advertisements
Free-tier users may be shown banner, interstitial, or rewarded advertisements served through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). AdMob may process advertising identifiers, device/network information, and ad interaction signals. Premium or referral-VIP status suppresses the app’s own ad presentation while that entitlement is valid; it does not control Google’s account-level advertising settings.
## 5. Optional Referral Rewards
The Referral Program is optional and off by default. After opt-in, native code derives an app-scoped SHA-256 value from Android ID, truncated to 16 hexadecimal characters for the shared service contract; the backend HMACs that value. Raw Android ID stays native. No IMEI or MAC address is requested. Supabase receives the derived identifier, Google Play Install Referrer payload/timestamps, anonymous referral-session credentials, and request-bound Play Integrity evidence for attribution, fraud prevention, and milestone/VIP synchronization.
Use the Unsync page on the device to open the app’s unsync deep link. It disables referral sync and clears local reward/cache state, retaining the referral authentication session to support later remote deletion. It does not delete server rows or affect paid subscriptions. Request remote deletion by emailing support as explained in the Data Deletion guide. There is no Settings referral-delete or unsync toggle in the current UI.
## 6. Intellectual Property Rights
All application code, visual designs, typography, audio recordings, soundtracks, and compilation rights are the exclusive intellectual property of TorahTone and its licensors. You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the App for non-commercial personal enrichment.
## 7. Open-Source Attribution
TorahTone incorporates open-source software components, including:
- **SunCalc:** Copyright © 2014 Vladimir Agafonkin; the bundled npm dependency is licensed under BSD 2-Clause. Other components retain their respective licenses.
## 8. User Conduct & Prohibitions
You agree not to:
- Decompile, reverse-engineer, extract, or redistribute the App's source code, audio assets, or database files without express permission.
- Interfere with, compromise the security of, or disrupt the servers, backend APIs, or Firebase infrastructure supporting TorahTone.
- Use the App in any manner that violates local, national, or international regulations.
## 9. Disclaimer of Warranties
TorahTone is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. While we strive for accuracy in Shabbat candle-lighting sunset calculations, local astronomical calculations are provided for informational and reminder purposes. Users should consult their local rabbinical authority or halachic calendar for official halachic times.
## 10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, TorahTone, its developers, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the App.
## 11. Data Deletion, Purchase Sync, and Termination
No user-created login is required for the current Android app. Firebase and optional Supabase anonymous service identities can still exist. Clearing Android storage or uninstalling removes private local preferences, cache, coordinates, and session state. This does not erase Google Play order history or remote provider records, and also removes the local purchase-sync pause setting.
- **Referral data:** Unsync clears local rewards and stops sync; remote profile deletion is a separate support request. Paid access is independent of referral sync.
- **Purchase verification data:** the native deletion operation persists a sync pause before network deletion, disables local paid access, cancels outstanding verification, and discards stale results. It can target only purchase tokens known locally. Missing records or failed deletion are reported; available encrypted tokens are retained for retry or support. Successful deletion clears those purchase records but leaves sync paused across app restarts.
- **Restore:** Only an explicit **Restore Purchases** action resumes paused Google Play purchase synchronization and submits active purchases for verification. A pending purchase never unlocks Premium.
- **Billing:** Deleting app or verification data does not cancel recurring billing. Cancel in Google Play and request refunds through Google Play.

## 12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the applicable laws of your jurisdiction, without giving effect to any conflict of law principles.
