Privacy Policy – Export Chat Reader
# Privacy Policy
Export Chat Reader (package `com.exportchatreader.app`) · Effective September 1, 2026
> **Your imported chats stay on your device.** Export Chat Reader parses and stores exported chat text and media in the app's private local storage. The app does not upload that chat content to the developer or advertising providers. The free version does connect to Google services for advertising and Google Play Billing as described below.
## 1. Scope and contact
This policy explains how the developer of Export Chat Reader ("we", "us", or "our") handles data in the Android app. Privacy inquiries may be sent to support@cibru.in.
## 2. Chat content processed locally
When you choose an exported chat archive or share one to the app, Export Chat Reader may access and locally process message text, timestamps, participant names, images, videos, audio and voice notes, documents, contact-card files, and location text or links contained in that archive. This content is used to display, index, search, and play the imported conversation. It remains in the app's private sandbox until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Under Google Play's Data Safety definition, processing that stays entirely on the device is not collection because it is not transmitted off-device.
## 3. Google Mobile Ads
The free, ad-supported version uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob). Google states that the SDK automatically collects and shares the following data for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes:
- IP address, which may estimate approximate location;
- user interactions such as app launches, taps, and ad or video views;
- diagnostic information about app and SDK performance; and
- device or account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID, App Set ID, and other applicable identifiers.
This data is transmitted to Google over encrypted connections and handled under Google's Privacy Policy and advertising terms. Export Chat Reader does not provide Google with imported chat contents. Premium subscribers do not receive ad requests while Premium status is active; Google Play Billing still operates to verify the subscription.
## 4. Google Play Billing
Export Chat Reader offers optional monthly and yearly Premium subscriptions through Google Play to remove ads. Google Play processes payment information under Google's terms; the app does not receive or store card or bank details. The app receives purchase and subscription status information and stores a local Premium-status flag and plan identifier to provide and restore the ad-free experience.
## 5. Permissions and device access
- **Internet and network state:** used to request ads, communicate with Google Play Billing, and open web links.
- **Document access:** Android's system picker or share sheet grants access to files you select or share. The app does not request broad storage permission.
- **Advertising ID and Privacy Sandbox permissions:** may be added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising, measurement, attribution, and related purposes.
- **FileProvider:** gives another app temporary read access when you choose to open or share an attachment.
## 6. Advertising choices and consent
Where required, the app must present an applicable consent or privacy-choice message before requesting ads. Depending on region and consent, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, limited, or technical ads. Android provides controls to reset or delete the advertising ID. You may subscribe to Premium to stop ad requests from Export Chat Reader while the subscription is active.
## 7. Sharing and sale
Imported chat content is not transmitted to us or shared with Google. Advertising data described above is collected and shared with Google through the Mobile Ads SDK. We do not sell imported chat content or other personal and sensitive user data. A user-directed action, such as opening a map link or sharing an attachment, sends data only to the app or service you select and is governed by that party's policy.
## 8. Security, retention, and deletion
Imported chats are kept in Android private app storage. Cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for chat databases and extracted chat media. Network connections are configured to reject cleartext traffic. No security measure is absolute, and device security also depends on your Android configuration.
Local chat content is retained until you delete a chat, use **Settings → Data & Storage → Clear All Data**, clear app storage in Android settings, or uninstall the app. Clearing cache removes temporary files but does not delete imported chat records. Advertising and billing data retained by Google is subject to Google's policies. See the Data Deletion Guide.
## 9. Children
Export Chat Reader is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children. The app should not be designated in Google Play as targeting children unless its advertising configuration and SDK use are changed to satisfy Google Play Families requirements.
## 10. Privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access, deletion, correction, objection, or restriction. Because imported chat content remains on your device, you control it through the app or Android settings. For developer privacy requests, email support@cibru.in. For data controlled by Google, use Google's privacy controls or contact Google.
## 11. Changes
We may update this policy when app features, SDKs, or legal requirements change. We will update the effective date and communicate material changes where required.
## 12. Independence and trademarks
Export Chat Reader is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp and related marks belong to their respective owners.
